Last seen normal:  Date and time a person with stroke was last known to be normal before the onset of symptoms of stroke or transient ischemic attack.

Length of stay:  A measure of the duration of a single hospitalization.  This is usually measured in days.

Lipid:  Another word for “fat”.

Lobe:  One of the four major parts of the brain: frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital.

Long-term care home (LTC):  A facility that provides ongoing nursing care to residents in need of help with activities of daily living.  People may live in LTC homes when it becomes difficult for them to manage in their own homes.  Commonly called a nursing home.
